About Us

You may be wondering, "Who is behind the Essential Summaries?". 

Well, we are two very ordinary blokes.  We went to school together and have known each other for most of our lives.  Now as we age, we have found ourselves losing our parents, and becoming more involved in their medical care. It is the 'circle of life', but that doesn't make it easy for them, or us. 

In helping our parents we came to the realisation that having easier access to information would help deal with most of the issues we encountered - and so, with some expert assistance, we created the Essential Summaries:

• The Essential Medical Summary, and
• The Essential Estate Summary.

The Essential Medical Summary is designed to help you record your medical history and treatment as a reference that can be used at medical appointments. As we age and our medical history becomes more complex, so it becomes more difficult to recall.  We've produced the Essential Medical Summary to help people ensure they can provide required medical information when needed and avoid any embarrassment when their memory fails.  It helps people maintain their independence and is also useful in emergencies, or when a family member needs to assist with care.

Similarly, the Essential Estate Summary was created after dealing with the death of a parent.  We realised that the process of dealing with their estate and life could have been a lot easier if we had been left a guide.  Something that outlined our parent's affairs so we at least had some understanding of what was required of us, what we needed to look out for, and some guidance from beyond the grave so that we knew we were doing things their way - honouring their wishes.

When someone close to you dies, it is amazing how quickly things start happening - driven by ambos, medical staff, police officers and funeral homes.  They are all just doing their jobs, but at a time when you just want to curl up into a ball and cry, decisions need to be made - immediately.  Thats when some guidance can really help.

So, with expert assistance, we developed the Essential Estate Summary.  Our way of turning a negative into a positive, to help others organise their affairs in a way that will support their families during a difficult time.

We have tried to make both of our Essential Summaries comprehensive without being over the top (and a chore to complete), and affordable so that they are accessible to everyone.  We have printed them in large font with plenty of space to make them 'senior friendly'.

Ageing and death are a part of life.  It will never be easy, but we hope we can help you make some of the 'stuff' associated with getting older a little bit easier for you and your family.  And if, like us, you have ageing parents perhaps the Essential Summaries are a tools you can introduce to them so they have some extra support, and when the time comes you'll have the information and guidance you need to honour their wishes.
